Hi, I'm Melissa. I'm the owner, maker, creator, designer, and everything else behind Hello Camellia. I'm a crafty, sewing-obsessed, vintage-loving gal who resides on the California Coast with my soon-to-be husband and two adorable yet mischievous cats. I run Hello Camellia alongside my college classes and day job.

I'm inspired by the world around me and especially objects from other eras. One of my favorite pastimes is wandering the thrift shops, estate sales, and flea markets for great vintage finds. I'm an absolute sucker for anything pastel, floral, mid-century, and unique and I think that my love of the quaint, cute, and quirky is evident in the things I create. I try to use vintage and re-purposed materials as often as possible in my work.

When people ask me when I first got into crafting, I don't really know what to say. Honestly, I think it's just in my blood. I've been drawing, making, and dreaming up projects my whole life. My mother is an accomplished quilter and she attempted to teach me how to sew (not very successfully) many times during my childhood. However, my interest really took off once I got into high school and became interested in vintage fashion. I wanted to be able to make my own unique, beautiful dresses and so I enrolled in a class at the local community college. Many years and many projects later I'm still at it! I started a blog a few years ago to share my projects, finds, and inspiration (www.mintgreensewingmachine.com).

After many years of making just for myself and for gifts, I decided to launch Hello Camellia in 2013 as a way to share my creations with the world, explore the world of business, and to earn a little extra money as we save up to buy a home. I would love to see this become my full time business someday.
